James W. Dobbs

James W. Dobbs "Jim" has over 30 years of experience litigating civil lawsuits. He has handled complex cases from their inception through trial and appeal on cases that have helped define Oklahoma law in the areas of duty to defend, compulsory insurance coverage, uninsured motorist coverage, bad faith, choice of law, equitable subrogation, and federal pre-emption
issues.

His practice has been focused in areas of insurance defense, insurance coverage, bad faith, product liability, premise liability, trucking defense, business litigation, and appeals. In addition to being in private practice for many years, Jim has also worked within an insurer's claims department and is very aware of the specific needs and issues facing insurers.

Jim received his Juris Doctor degree in 1991 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law after receiving a business degree at the University of Oklahoma. He is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in Oklahoma and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jim has been a past or present member of, and active in, many insurance and claims related organizations including the Claims Litigation Management Alliance, Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel, the Insurance Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Torts and Insurance Section of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Oklahoma Claims Association and has given educational presentations regarding issues affecting the handling of insurance claims. In addition to his involvement in these organizations, he has been involved with providing pro bono work through Oklahoma Lawyers for Children representing the interests of deprived children in the juvenile courts.
